In Järfälla municipality's restaurant kitchen within elderly care, we prepare and serve about 1400 meals every day. These meals are distributed across four production kitchens located in Kallhäll, Viksjö, Barkarby, and Barkarbystaden. We cook for our care and nursing homes, for home care clients, and for restaurant guests. The four restaurant kitchens are managed by a unit manager, and in each kitchen, there is a supervisor as well as cooks and kitchen assistants. The operation also includes a meal developer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of a kitchen assistant involves varied tasks within a large kitchen and assisting the cooks as needed. This placement will primarily be at Restaurant Ikaros in Barkarby, where we prepare and pack meal boxes for our home care clients. The work requires precision, structure, and logistical thinking. It is important that you have good computer skills and can read and write Swedish well, as accurate packing and labeling are crucial.

Common tasks, in addition to packing meal boxes, include salad preparation, dishwashing, portioning, cash handling, picking goods, and working with printouts from our dietary system. A large portion of the food is prepared from scratch. Together with your colleagues, you share responsibility for a functioning operation.

Working hours are daytime during weekdays and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Trained kitchen assistant
• Previous experience in restaurants/large kitchens/hospitals
• Knowledge of Swedish home cooking
• Knowledge of special diets and texture-modified diets
• Experience in food safety and self-control
• Good Swedish in speech and writing
• Good computer skills

You are proactive, good at collaborating, and used to working in a team. You are responsible and feel a commitment to our target group, the elderly. It is an advantage if you have previously worked in elderly care or in a hospital, as well as experience with some type of dietary system.

We are looking for someone who is engaged, flexible, and self-driven with good teamwork skills. You should be meticulous and enjoy having order and cleanliness, as well as being service-oriented.
